Readream Pro has three voice levels. Phone voices need no download. Piper and Kokoro are optional open-source downloads that you can remove later.
Level 1
Uses voices already installed on your Android phone. Readream clearly shows American and British voices when your phone has them.

Choose a voice
Level 1 shows compatible American and British Android voices already on your phone. Pro also shows optional Piper and Kokoro downloads with clear memory and power needs.
Pro downloads these open-source voice files from sherpa-onnx releases. This is only a file download. Readream does not send your book text to a cloud speech service. After download, speech runs on your device.
How Readream keeps speech smooth
Readream reads full passages instead of stopping at each screen line. It can prepare up to five parts ahead to reduce gaps between passages.
Pro can keep reading aloud in the background or when the screen is off. You can use play or pause from a media notification and headset buttons. Basic stops when you close the reader, move the app to the background, or turn the screen off.
